The Roe v. Wade decision was made January 22, 1973. This Supreme Court ruling (by nine unelected justices) decriminalized abortion and held that a woman's right to an abortion falls within the right to privacy protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. Even Justice Harry Blackmun, the author of the majority opinion, stated that the Constitution does not explicitly mention a right to privacy. However, this decision allows all abortions up to and including the point of labor and delivery.

To date 50million plus innocent babies lives lost to abortion nationally.

An average of 4,000 innocent babies suffer death by abortion every day.

In New Hanover County, the 2007 statistics record 653 total abortions in the year.  This is an average of 3 per day based on the M-F work week throughout the year.

For the data from the State of North Carolina see:

As is noted in Genesis 1:27 or Psalm 127:3 or Isaiah 40:1 and please join us in prayer for the innocent unborn.

"When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I've often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God -- and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there'll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world -- and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, 'Spare him, because he loved us!'" - Congressman Henry Hyde

First Sunday in October

Annually, on the first Sunday in October, LIFE CHAIN invites the churches in each city and town across North America to stand on a designated local sidewalk and pray for one hour, while holding one of the following approved pro-life sign messages:

In 2003, over 1,000 LIFE CHAINS were held in the U.S. and Canada, and over 1,000 are hoped. For more information and details about Wilmington, please go to

In Commemoration of ROE V. WADE:  31 YEARS OF PAIN

On the 31st anniversary of the tragic U.S. Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion on demand,  it is apparent that Roe v. Wade has had a devastating effect on both our nation and our state.  More than 40 million children nationwide have lost their lives as a result of this outrageous ruling that struck down state laws in all 50 states.  Women around the country have suffered physical and psychological harm because of legalized abortion.  And fathers have been left with absolutely no say as to whether their unborn children will live.

Roe v. Wade was one of the worst judicial decisions of all time and it represents the ultimate violation of human rights.   Roe v. Wade is, quite clearly, anti-woman, anti-family, and anti-child.”

         Consider these facts:

    ·         more than 40 percent of all abortions are repeat abortions, meaning that women are being victimized by the abortion industry over and over again.

    ·         Scientific research shows that abortion hurts women.  Women who undergo abortions not only run the risk of sterility and death, they are also more likely to experience depression, substance abuse, and suicide attempts following their abortions.

    ·         Women around the nation are speaking out about the devastating effects abortion has had in their lives.  Actress Jennifer O’Neill and singer Melba Moore are among the high-profile women who are sharing their abortion stories in the hope that other women will not have to experience the pain they have suffered as a result of their abortions.

There is startling evidence to suggest that the tide has turned against Roe v. Wade.

    ·         Public opinion polls show that Americans are increasingly pro-life.  A recent Gallup Youth Survey indicated that young people today are much more likely to call themselves pro-life than young people of a generation ago.

    ·         Surveys show that 70 percent of the American people support the federal ban on partial-birth abortion.  The public will no longer tolerate the lies of the abortion industry.

    ·         Studies show that pregnant women who see their unborn children’s ultrasound pictures are much less likely to abort their children.

The FDA Advisory Council has approved the "morning after" pill.

ACTION: Please call 888-463-6332 to express your opinion on the morning after pill. This comes up frequently for discussion and we need to be vigilant. Contact your representatives and senators and let them know how you feel. Please keep in mind the proposal is to have an over-the-counter "morning after" pill available without prescription.
